Dr. Oluwadamilola Fayanju
MD, MA, MPHS, FACS
Dr. Oluwadamilola “Lola” Fayanju is Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at Queen’s University, as well as Head of Surgery at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. She holds the Britton Smith Chair in Surgery. Dr. Fayanju joins Queen’s from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the inaugural Helen O. Dickens Presidential Professor and founding Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery for Penn Medicine. Her clinical expertise is in breast surgical oncology, and she has led multidisciplinary cancer programs integrating equity, implementation science, and outcomes measurement across large academic health systems.
Dr. Fayanju earned an AB and AM from Harvard University, her MD and Master of Population Health Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis, where she completed her General Surgery residency, and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on advancing equity and patient-centered outcomes in cancer care, addressing disparities, improving treatment of aggressive breast cancers, and promoting diversity in healthcare. She is actively involved in national surgical oncology leadership and has received recognition for her mentorship and contributions to academic surgery.
