Dr. Giles completed his medical school at Queen’s University and his General Surgery Residency at McMaster University. He obtained a Master of Public Health with a global health focus at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health during his general surgery residency. As well, Dr. Giles completed his Thoracic Surgery Residency at the University of Manitoba. Following residency, Dr. Giles completed his Advanced General Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Giles’s research interests are; perioperative outcomes, access to care, and global surgery. His clinical areas of focus are complex esophageal surgery and reconstruction, minimally invasive and robotic approaches, endoscopic ultrasound, and third-space endoscopy (POEM, ESD).
