It’s been an exciting year for innovation and learning at the Department of Surgery. This report highlights some of the amazing work being done by our faculty and students, including advances in robotics, brain tumour treatments and how podcasts can support ongoing learning for our surgeons.
A key element in our stories this year is the high level of collaborative dedication to discovery within our programs. We’re proud to protect research time for our clinician-scientists to enable them to bring new therapies and treatments to our community. Our ability to fund Research Chairs is also crucial to these research activities, providing faculty members with the funding, time and space to focus on groundbreaking discoveries that translate into the clinical world, and are changing lives here and around the world.
The Department of Surgery continues to grow and invite new ways of thinking to build on our foundation of research without borders. I hope you enjoy reading about our achievements and our commitment to discovering better care for our community and beyond.
