Cardiovascular Surgery

The Cardiovascular Division continues to advance surgical approaches and techniques in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. The structural heart program has observed a huge expansion with TAVR and MitraClip cases.  The hospital's new state-of-the art hybrid OR suite is seeing an abundance of activity as the volume of these cases grow.  As well, we now routinely offer minimally invasive valve repair and replacement for mitral, tricuspid and aortic valves.  These procedures involve a multidisciplinary team of highly trained experts, incorporating cardiac surgery, cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac anesthesiology.  The future of cardiac in KHSC is set to enjoy ongoing growth in their minimally invasive programs.

Our clinical research has been focused on a major trial on vein bypasses for the lower extremities, with a goal of optimally predicting vein sizes using differing image modalities. We are currently recruiting patients and hope to have important data to present at the national and international level in the near future.
