Originally from a small town outside of Paris, Ontario, Skylar first moved to Kingston to pursue a Life Sciences undergraduate degree, followed by Medical School at Western University. As a lifelong performer and competitive dancer, she initially fell in love with general surgery through the parallels between the stage and the OR — precision, teamwork, and the adrenaline of a high stakes performance. Since then Skylar has found a passion in the diversity of both general surgery patients and practice; caring for the tiniest patients in the NICU to those at end of life, whether managing a trauma or completing a complex oncologic procedure.
When not in scrubs, you can find Skylar at one of the best local brunch spots (as an avid coffee and brunch enthusiast) or relaxing at home with her two ragdoll cats. Skylar is so excited to be back in Kingston with the best co-residents — close to the water and her extended family, especially her Grandma whose legendary cookies and banana bread make those long call shifts a little easier
