Kelly Brennan MSc MD was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. She completed her medical education at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. She was ecstatic to return to Queen’s University for residency training after thoroughly enjoying her time in Kingston previously during graduate studies. Kelly was drawn to general surgery early in her training because of the acuity in patient presentations and immediate impact in surgical management. She highly values the teamwork required and the opportunity to be with patients during dire moments. Her chosen highlights of the residency program include a close knit and supportive program, the notable success of recent graduates and plethora of research opportunities. She is passionate about a surgeon's role in cancer care and is considering pursuing subspecialty training in colorectal surgery or surgical oncology. In her spare time, she can be found riding horses and spending time with her family, friends and two dogs.
