Ruxandra was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario. She attended Queen’s University for her BScH with a Major in Life Sciences and a Minor in Music, then went to Western University to pursue her MD. Ever since she discovered Grey’s Anatomy in fifth grade, she hasn’t been able to shake her interest in surgery. Ruxandra enjoys General Surgery because of its wide range of patient presentations, and (in her opinion) the perfect combination of hands-on procedures and medical management.
Ruxandra is ecstatic to be returning to Queen’s for her general surgery residency, and feels she will thrive in the tight-knit and supportive environment. Ruxandra’s favourite things about Kingston are the sunsets, restaurants (Woodenheads, Tango Nuevo and Sima Sushi to name a few), and the Pier. In her spare time she is playing piano, knitting or taking care of her houseplants. She also enjoys traveling, she’s been to over 30 countries and went to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia to celebrate matching into residency!
