Bree Sharma grew up in London, Ontario. She completed her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University where she designed a course in communication skills as part of her honours thesis in medical education. She then went on to work as a research coordinator for a year at the Gait and Brain Lab in her hometown of London where she helped coordinate several nationwide clinical projects studying the link between mild cognitive decline and mobility. Working with patients inspired her to pursue medicine, and she completed her MD at the University of Toronto. She was drawn to General Surgery in clerkship because of its diverse scope of practice, acute and complex care from trauma to oncology, and the immediate impact on a patient’s life through surgical management. She is excited to have matched to the General Surgery program at Queen’s University for its early operative exposure, close-knit supportive environment, and fantastic mentors. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, knitting, creating digital art, and traveling. She is looking forward to creating a new home in the beautiful city of Kingston with its amazing restaurants and stunning view of Lake Ontario.
