The General Surgery program is growing in size and scope to meet the needs of our communities. We welcomed three new surgeons to the Division – Drs. Bennett, Farooq and Szasz. As well, we are in the process of setting up a fellowship program, and working on the development of an e-referral system.
Our robotic colorectal program continues to be recognized nationally and internationally, and our trainees are being given ample opportunities to practice minimally-invasive techniques. The Bariatric program is running at capacity and engaged in training our next generation of bariatric surgeons.
Our research continues to focus on population outcomes, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education. We are also working on several global health initiatives, including collaborative work with the West Africa College of Surgeons to develop education programs for oncology surgeons. We are excited to grow this program and to work with our global partners to improve the quality of surgical care for all.
