Welcome Dr James Villamere, new faculty member in the Division of General Surgery

    Dr James Villamere, General Surgeon, Department of Surgery Queen's Health Sciences CentreWe extend a warm welcome to Dr James Villamere, new faculty member, to the Division of General Surgery. Dr. Villamere completed his medical training at the University of Ottawa followed by residency training in General Surgery at Queen’s University.  After graduating from his residency in 2014, Dr. Villamere pursued fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City and then a second fellowship in Advanced Foregut Minimally Invasive Surgery and Advanced Endoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was then recruited and began practice, as a staff surgeon, in the department of general surgery, at the Cleveland Clinic since 2016. He practiced in the areas of Advanced Foregut and Bariatric Minimally Invasive Surgery and Advanced Surgical Endoscopy. Dr. Villamere begins his practice at Queen’s University in January 2019, where he specializes in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy. He is also finishing his MSc. in Evidence-Based Healthcare at the University of Oxford, UK. His research interests include clinical outcomes in Foregut and Bariatric Surgery and Advanced Endoscopy and Evidence-Based Surgery
